RT Review

Ok. I'll admit. I must have lost my sanity. What would possess me to send in Highland Mist for an RT review, much less do it for the conference issue?

I mean, if its a decent review, that benefits me. If its not...well, need I say more? See? Even you doubt my sanity.

(sigh)

Well, yesterday Robin emailed me to tell me our reviews ratings were up on the RT website. With great trepidation I typed in RT's web adress.

I hastily called my husband who was on the road to a meeting and told him. When I confessed that I hadn't actually seen the rating yet, he suggested I do it with him on the phone.

The RT site pulled up. I squeezed my eyes closed. (which was stupid. Its not like there will be big, bold bright yellow letters flashing on the screen reading "Donna's book sucks!") So I opened my eyes and clicked on the review button with now trembling fingers.

It took me three times, but I managed to type in my name...and boom. There it was. My rating. 3 stars.

I blinked to make sure I hadn't added a star or two by mistake. No. They were the same. And 3 stars means that the reviewer thought it was an enjoyable read. I was thrilled. My dh and I laughed and we got off the phone.

Then another friend wrote and said although she got 3 stars, the reviewer was harsh on the actual review. I panicked again. OMG! What if they did the same to me. I didn't have the May issue. I was going to have to wait until the RT conferece.

Then, Mandy, another friend, emailed me the entire review.

The MacInnes and the MacNeil clans are sworn enemies. Alisdair MacNeil is pure evil, and Conall MacInnes believes he kidnapped his sister. In retaliation, he takes MacNeil's beautiful young daughter, Glenna, to hold as hostage but quickly discovers she's a Druid. He has vowed to protect all Druids or uphold the vow he made to his mother, and he never wanted to be in this situation. Now, he must break one of those vows.

Conall and Glenna are drawn together, but she seeks solace in the teaching of the Druids. The MacNeils attack Conall's fortress -- not only to recapture Glenna, but also to kill the laird. There's plenty of action and intrigue and a constant battle of wills between Glenna and Conall.

This is an enjoyable story that balances action, romance and a bit of the fae.

Needless to say, I was more than thrilled with this. :)

Great review, Donna. I saw your review in RT. I get the magazine and will be reading it on the plane when I head to Orlando in May. If you wanna see an issue (April, May or June) let me know and I'll bring them to Daytona.

Oh, great, Mel! Thanks sweetie. :) I really want that May issue, but I heard RT is giving some at while we're there. I hope I'm able to snag one. :) I'm also supposed to be in an ad with other NCP authors. Did it come out ok?

Thanks, Jolie! I was so very nervous about this.

Sorry your book didn't get picked up. Maybe they'll do a review later. :)

That's right! You should be able to get a May issue at the conference. I remember snagging a magazine at the conference in NY two years ago.
