Just A Tease

Yesterday I panicked. Really panicked.

My agent called and told me that an editor had called him about a full mss she had of mine. My heart stopped, chills raced down my spine, and for a moment I forgot to breath.

All I could think of was, this could be it. The Call.

And then I started to hear his words. She said I was an extremely talented writer with a bright future. (by this time I'm hyperventalating). However (man, I'm beginning to hate that word) she didn't fall in love with my characters and was passing on it.

I was a bit surprised that she called instead of writing a letter like most editors do. Not that I'm complaining, though I'm not sure how many more of those phone calls I can take. :S

It was a nice rejection, and at least I'm getting personalized verses the form rejection. I also have a feeling that my agent will hear back from a few more editors before Reno.

What we need, Donna are two phones. One only rings if its rejections, and one only rings if its The Call. That way, we already know when we pick up the phone and we can brace ourselves accordingly!

Gads, I know the frustration well...the best advice I was given which I gladly share is "just do the thing...all will work out accordingly."

At least you have an agent talking with you...that's a positive! I need a new one for some projects myself.

Keep slugging!
