Question of the Week
Sorry about the no show yesterday. I was taken down by a vicious migraine. (grrrr)
Since I wasn't able to ask the weekly question yesterday, I thought I would do it today.
What sub genre of romance would you like to see more of? As a reader, would you like more historicals, contemporaries, humorous, fantasy, vampire, paranormal or other types?
Coming from a writer's POV, I'd like to know what people are looking to read. If there's a certain sub genre that you read more than others, let me know. :)
Personally, I love historicals. Any type. I'll take historical paranormals, historicals, historical fantasies...well, you get the point. I do read some contemporaries, but I find that it has to have some paranormal or fantasy element to it or it doesn't appeal to me.
Give me your thoughts!

hey donna,
i am partial to historicals. always have been. i got bitten by the historical bug when i read "The Flame and the Flower" eons ago. that's what has inspired me to write my own. with a multi-cultural twist
i like sci fi fantasy and im fed up with reading mm books . feel that there is too many of them flying around. i like my heroes to be take charge and not afriad to be male but i also like the herione to stanf up for herself . i also like mfm stories with the lady to be the centre of there world .
Ah, a reader after my own heart. :) The Flame and the Flower is a great book, ancient scribe. What a wonderful way to get hooked. :)
A twist in books is always a good thing. :)
I've noticed a lot of m/m books. I haven't read any but the increase in them tells me that readers were gobbeling them up as fast as they could get them.
Thanks so much for your comments. :)
I'm attracted to paranormals be it historical or contemporary, though I have to say most have a historical or alien/futuristic/fantasy feel to them.
Contemps. can touch too close to reality so unless they're humorous in some way I tend to stay away from them and mystry/suspense.
Sorry to hear about your migraine! Have had a few myself due to this crazy weather we're having!
Stephanie
Hi, Stephanie!
I love paranormals to. Something about them. :)
Here's hoping we don't have any more migraines for awhile. :D
Hi Donna - in contrast to the others who commented, I only occasionally read historicals - and generally only do if they have paranormal or fantasy elements, and/or are really hot - can be m/m, menage, BDSM or whatever - in that regard I'm not nearly as picky, LOL! I do read contemporaries and futuristics about equally.
What I say I read if people ask, is: romance, fantasy, SF, erotica, paranormal, and horror (not necessarily in that order) and any combinations of the above genres. Humor is an added bonus. History needs to be more than reasonably accurate, and world-building has to be consistent or I drop the book. Good dialogue and characters I care about make me come back for more.
I'm reading a bit less of the shapeshifter/vampire books than I did a year ago. More out there now, but more doesn't mean better. The ones I do read are ones with some twist or a world that I like.
Donna, I read more books about paranorma that deals with the vampires, any shiftshaper that are out there. I have read some great historical books. I love to read Nora Roberts, Karen Marie Moning, Sherrilyn Kenyon. There are a lot of great authors out there and I would have a long list if I posted all the ones I love to read.
