I guess you can say my idea pet is dogs for we have 4 of them. All of them adopted. First one was Duke, a shepherd/Chow who came to us all beat up and starving. Buster was next, a yellow lab, when the family that had him wanted someone who had a place where he would have room to run and play. Lexie, a black lab, who thinks when she comes into the house it is time to play. Both Buster and her play after they come in from outside. My son and grandsons found a white a brown dog who was running around at the river bottom and we ended up with him. Still a puppy and loves to play with the labs. We named him Bandit.

You sound like me. I can't leave a pet that I know doesn't have a home. I always feed/water them.
I'm a sucker for any animal that shows up on my doorstep. :)
