Gone Anywhere?

Now that summer is almost officially over with the start of school (well, I always consider it over when school starts), did you take a vacation anywhere? See a place so stunning in its beauty that it will stay with you forever?

We didn't have time to take the kids on a real vacation, so we're headed down to Galveston and my brother's beach house to celebrate my son's birthday. To them, this is a vacation, and if my daughter had any say in it, we'd be living at the beach. :) Never mind the fact I won't let them in the water since its so full of jelly fish - and don't even get me started on the sharks. Our water in Galveston isn't the pretty, clear blue of Flordia. Nope. The Mississippi River dumps its mud filled water into the Gulf of Mexico, giving our water that muddy look. Its yuck.

But, to the kids, its Heaven. :)

I did get to take a couple of trips that were writing related - Daytona Beach, FL and Atlanta, GA. Now I've been to Altanta before, but I've never been to Daytona Beach.

And then, there was my trip to Jamaica to celebrate my ten year anniversary. Now that was a beautiful beach/water.

So, come share with me where you went this year. :)

I didn't go anywhere except down to the camp for a few days but I got lots of writing and reading done from the comfort of my living room.

I'm jealous of your many trips this summer. Since going to Austin for a few days was the most I did this summer, I plan on hopefully visiting Florida for a little while next summer to visit family. I think I'm doomed to never have a real vacation. lol

Oh, Kelly, that sounds like my kind of trip. :)

In truth, Robyn, two of my trips were "working". I didn't leave the Atlanta hotel the entire nine days I was there. And in Daytona, I only left to get food, so I didn't get to see much of either city. :)

This has been a fun year for us! We took the kids on a cruise in April -- Key West, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. I went to Atlanta too (and saw YOU!). We'll be doing another cruise with dh's work in October -- this time we'll go to Jamaica, so you'll have to spill some recommendations. Being close to Galveston is pretty convenient as far as cruises go ...

Hey, Jolie! I tried to find you later to chat, but you know how crowded RWA was this year. Geesh!

Oh, yeah! Give me a shout and I'll tell you all about Jamaica. And I agree. I love that Galveston has the cruise ships coming into port now. :)
