Busy Easter

I can't believe the weekend is finally over. It was very hectic and for a moment I didn't think I would make it to Monday, but we did.

My husband and I laughed Saturday as we got the eggs ready to dye. As a kid I loved doing the eggs, and once I had children I couldn't wait until they got old enough to understand about the dying and hiding of eggs. But this time, neither my husband nor I wanted to do them. Its not a simple dye anymore. No, they have all these special things to do like marblize or glitter or paint.

Well, my daughter (the diva) wanted the glitter eggs. I thought, "how hard can it be?" after I read the directions. Obviously, the people designing this stuff don't try to dye the eggs with a six and three year old screaming at each other and begging us to let them do it.

Needless to say, the glitter eggs didn't turn out like the pretty picture. :S Fortunately, my son wanted only to dye the eggs, which we managed while trying to keep his fingers out of the dye.

And with any special day (i.e. Christmas, Halloween, birthday, ect..) the kids were so bad I nearly snatched them bald headed. Shouldn't there be a rule that the kids must be nice after all the parents went through? I mean, as soon as my kids opened their eyes they were arguing and getting into all kinds of trouble. So, you can imagine how it went at church, which was packed so full a sardine would have gotten claustrophobic.

Then, we came home to cook for my parents and my father-in-law. That went all right. The kids were on a sugar high by that time and playing outside. We, of course, hide the eggs for them to find. That's always a guaranteed laugh.

But it was about 11:00 last night that the funniest thing happened. My husband and I were relaxing watching TV after making my daughter's birthday invitations when we heard our son start screaming. We both though he might have fallen out of bed again, so my husband tells me to stay on the couch and he'll take care of him.

No sooner had my dh gotten to our son's room when I heard him ask what happened. Through a bevy of tears, I managed to make out "it was a big egg".

I start dying laughing, thinking Connor had a dream that an egg was chasing him. Then, I heard him say, "And Gillian took it from me."

I'm not sure how my husband managed to not laugh, but he calmed Connor down and came downstairs were we laughed for nearly fifteen minutes.

A big egg that his sister took from him. And can you believe that little demon remembered it this morning? That was the first thing he said to Gillian when we got them up. "You took my egg, pinkie!" (his nickname for her because she loves pink and he used to have a hard time saying her name).

Poor Gillian didn't know what to say. So, we got another good laugh about it this morning as we heard Connor explain the dream - or should I say nightmare? - to Gillian.

Ah, kids. Gotta love 'em!

LOL! Sounds like you had an eventful yet fun Easter. My child is a Siamese and he has no desire to paint eggs. lol! We didn't do anything special. Just read, slept, and watched TV. It was relaxing. Just the way I like it.
