It's Done!

Good news - Highland Magic is now finished and with my editor. I'm so happy to have finally finished that book. I've been writing that series for several years now, so it seems kinda odd that I won't be visiting those characters again. :(

I also just got a glimpse of my new WordPress design. Its awesome! I hope to have it finished and implimented within the next couple of weeks. And don't worry, the new addy will be posted here when I move over.

I'm finishing up packing for our family trip to Colorado. We leave tomorrow and will be gone 10 days. I will check on the blog when I can. Its our first big family trip...in a car...with our dog. Yes, we're bringing Tink. We really had no other choice.

She went all depressed on hubby when I left for Dallas. Since I was gone nine days, she really thought I left her. She wouldn't eat, didn't play, wouldn't get up or anything. So, we knew there was no way we could board her for our trip. After a few phone calls to the hotel and attractions we're headed to, we discovered that Tink could come everywhere with us. And the few places we're going that has rides have a place we can put her for that time.

So, of course, Tink had to have a new shirt for the trip. Yes, I'm one of those crazy women that buys her pet clothes. :D Its really cute, too.

Ok. Must go pack some more!

While in Dallas, I went to Medieval Times (check out the website! check out the website!) with some friends. Despite the fact I live in Texas, this was my first time to go. And I'm so very glad I did. It was a blast! I'm already planning on taking the hubby and kids. :)

If you've ever been to a Renaissance Festival, and love watching the jousting and the knights, you must get to a Medieval Times. Though the knights do joust, there is so much more to it. It was a show, and what a show they put on! They even had a falcon. I'd have taken a picture, but I was afraid to disturb the bird as he flew around the arena. If only I'd been able to have him land on my arm. ::sigh::

Hi, everyone!

Sorry I haven't been blogging, but between no internet service and my schedule, I've been hindered. :) I feel lost without talking to you all during the week, so I hope you'll forgive my absence.

The conference has been great. The book signing was TERRIFIC!!!! Thanks to all the readers who came out and supported me. Its so appreciated. I've taken a few pictures, but mostly I'm having people email me copies, and once I get everything together I'll get them up.

I'm still waiting on the cover for A Dark Seduction, which should come any day. I'm also finishing up my revisions on Highland Magic, Frang's story and the last book in the Druid's Glen series.

One of the perks about being at RWA is meeting all the writers. Even for me, I love meeting authors who's books I love. I had the pleasure of meeting a beautiful, sweet, talented NY Times bestselling author, and if you haven't read any of Shana Abe's books, run right now to the book store and get ALL of them. They are brilliant and captivating books. I just know you'll love her and her stories as much as I do.

DG: ::looks up and takes a quick drink of Coke:: Nope. Just waking up. Are you ready to get started?

Gregor: I am. What questions do you have for me this morning?

DG: I have a few. We had a holiday yesterday, so many people were away from their computers.

Gregor: Ah. I ken. I didn't hold their interest.

DG: ::laughs:: Its nothing like that. It was our country's Independence day. Now, on to the first question. This one is from Hallie who asks if you think Fiona will come with you easily to the Glen?

Gregor: Aye, I expect she will. She'll finally be reunited with her sisters. I imagine that Moira has been in contact with her through the years, so Fiona is bound to know that Glenna wasn't murdered as they expected, but kidnapped by MacNeil.

DG: And if she doesn't come easily?

Gregor: She doesn't really have a choice. I was told to bring her, and if I have to tie her to the horse, I will.

DG: Kayla wants to know what you'll do after you return Fiona to the Druids?

Gregor: ::sighs:: I really don't know. I like Conall's clan. I also know that MacNeil isn't finished with Glenna, which means he'll return. Conall will need another sword. I'm thinking I'll stay until the battle is over.

DG: Conall will need you. I'm glad to hear you'll be staying.

Gregor: This may not redeem me all the way, but I'm hoping it'll help.

DG: I think it'll redeem you more than you realize. Elaine wants to know what you think of the Fae?

Gregor: They're very powerful creatures. I'm ever amazed at what they can accomplish.

DG: They are amazing. We're lucky to have them on our side. Thank you so much for coming this week. I know you have much to do.

Gregor: It was my pleasure. And thank you for wearing such a lovely green top this rainy morn.

DG: ::smiles as Gregor enters room:: Sorry for the rain. Its been raining for over two weeks.

Gregor: ::shakes off the rain and sits:: Don't worry about it. Scotland's weather is much worse than this.

DG: The questions came pouring in yesterday after our interview. I really don't think I'll get through them all. ::shuffles paper around::

Gregor: ::Leans back in chair as he stretches legs out and crosses them at the ankles:: Start whenever you like, lass.

DG: ::chuckles:: All right. The first question is from Daisy who'd like to know if you ever visited your family after your banishment?

Gregor: ::shakes his head:: Not once. Being banished means that I can never return. If I do somehow go daft and return, I'll be killed on sight.

DG: That's rather harsh.

Gregor: We Scots are harsh, but it has allowed us to survive when lesser men wouldn't have.

DG: Can't argue there. Next question. This is from Selina who asks how you felt when the Fae and Moira asked you to go retrieve Fiona and bring her back to the Druid's Glen.

Gregor: They offered coin, so I wasn't about to refuse. I was a little confused, especially since if I was in Conall's place, or even Frang's, the Druid High Priest, I'd have rather cut off my arm than ask me to get Fiona. I still don't understand why someone else couldn't do it.

DG: But you are going to get her?

Gregor: Aye. I gave my word I would. I never break a vow.

DG: Fair enough. Are you looking forward to finding Fiona?

Gregor: I don't care one way or another. My mission is to get her and bring her safely back to the Glen. She's been with the same clan since her parent's were murdered, so I'm not going to have a hard time finding her.

DG: Which means that MacNeil, may the evil bastard rot in Hell, won't either.

Gregor: And in that instance, I was the right choice to get Fiona. Not many men would be able to keep her safe. I'm not saying that to be conceited. Its just a simple fact that I was blessed with my abilities, and I use them to my full advantage.

DG: Well, I'm thankful for that. Last question for the day. Rita wishes to know why men like you so often say they will never find love?

Gregor: ::laughs but it doesn't reach his eyes:: I may be fighting on the side of right now, but that doesn't excuse the killings before. Men like me aren't worthy of love.

DG: I had some wonderful questions come in yesterday that the readers would like for you to answer.

Gregor: I'll answer what I can.

DG: Great. The first one is from Rita who wants to know why you love the color green?

Gregor: I don't really know why I like green, its just a color that really appeals to me.

DG: ::laughs:: And it makes it all the better when a pretty woman has that color on, huh?

Gregor: ::winks:: Absolutely.

DG: The next question is from Laura who wants to know your favorite weapon.

Gregor: Without a doubt, my sword. I can use a bow and arrow, but I prefer the feel of a sword in my hand.

DG: There is something wonderful about a sword.

Gregor: A finely crafted sword can be the difference between life and death. I don't like to hide when I kill my enemies. I like to see their faces, and for them to see mine.

DG: Which made you a great mercenary, I suppose. Crystal would like to know of all the things you've done as a mercenary, what do you regret the most?

Gregor: ::sighs:: I regret all of it. Being a mercenary, a man hired to kill others, changes a man, and never for the better. I think its part of the reason I want to see their faces, and have them see mine. I have never forgotten one face. I will carry them with me always.

DG: That's a heavy load to carry.

Gregor: But I deserve it.

DG: Crystal would also like to know what is the worst thing you've done as a mercenary?

Gregor: ::snorts:: Its all bad. All of it. But the worst, the worst had to have been when I was asked to kill a family. A young couple with two very small children. One look at those children, and I knew the devil would be coming for me that night if I killed them. Instead, I gave them the coin I had and sent them away. Then, I went back and killed the man who hired me to murder such innocents.

DG: ::blanches:: Wow. I don't know what to say to that.

Gregor: My time isn't easy to live in. The sword rules a man. I just make sure I'm the one holding the sword.

DG: One last question from Crystal. She wants to know if you ever miss your family?

Gregor: ::glances down at his hands:: Every day. My sister the most. She was everything that was good and pure in this world, with love that knew no boundaries.

DG: Here's a question from Missy who wants to know if you've ever thought about settling down and giving up the mercenary ways?

Gregor: Occasionally, but never for long. This is my life, and I embrace it.

DG: One last question for the day. Cherie wants to know what type of woman it would take to tame you?

Gregor: ::laughs:: There is no woman out there, but if there was, she'd have to be strong and independent and take me for who I am.

DG: I think you'd be surprised just what kind of women are out there.

Look who I stumbled upon this weekend...Gregor MacLachlan from Highland Nights.

DG: Good morning, Gregor. Thank you so much for coming for this interview. I would have had you in sooner, but you're a hard man to get a hold of.

Gregor: And a good morn, to you, Donna. 'Tis my pleasure.

DG: I started these interviews well after your book came out, but I've had so many requests to interview you I couldn't pass it up. Tell me a little of about you.

Gregor: I grew up the son of a laird. I didn't see to my duties and I was banished.

DG: ::sighs:: I'm sure there was more to it than that, Gregor. Being banished from a clan isn't done lightly.

Gregor: Nonetheless, it was done. I made my way in the world as a mercenary. I was good at what I did, so good that my sword was often in demand.

DG: Being a mercenary isn't a nice business.

Gregor: One does what one must to eat. I'm not proud of it.

DG: Being as good of a mercenary as you are, that's what led MacNeil to hire you?

Gregor: ::snorts:: MacNeil is a worm that thinks he has more power than he does. He pays most of the men around him to stand as his soldiers. Where he gets the coin, I have no idea, but he pays very well.

DG: Did you go to MacNeil on your own?

Gregor: Nay. He sent for me. I was intrigued at his offer and the amount of coin he agreed to pay.

DG: And once you met Conall?

Gregor: Conall saved my life, and as a rule that changes things. Yet, I made a vow when I agreed to MacNeil's terms.

DG: Was part of your job leaving with Conall from MacNeil's castle?

Gregor: ::hesitates:: Nay. I saw an opportunity and I took it.

DG: When did you realize Conall was a good man?

Gregor: ::takes a deep breath:: Almost immediately.

I just found out yesterday that A Dark Seduction has been pushed back to mid-August. Sorry you'll have to wait another month for Cole's story.

I've added a new page to my website. Over the past couple of months I've had readers email me pictures of the Celtic tattoos, so I've added a page that now shows off the beautiful works of art. You can view it Here. If anyone with a Celtic or tribal tattoo would like to be added to the page, send me a picture of the tattoo with permission to post it.

9 Words Women Use

1. Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

2. Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3. Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.

4. Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

5. Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing.)

6. That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7. Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you're welcome.

8. Whatever: Is a women's way of saying F@!K YOU!

9. Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking "What's wrong?" For the woman's response refer to #3.

Playing Catch Up

I've got a lot going on over the next couple of weeks. As much as I love messing with this blog here, I'm in the process of having it changed over to a Wordpress blog. As soon as its finished, I'll post here and announce the new url. I'm hoping it'll be ready this week or next.

Besides trying to finish my current book, doing my edits, coming up with a blurb for another book, writing proposals and getting ready for the RWA conference in Dallas, I'm planning a vacation to Colorado with the family.

I'm just a glutton for punishment. :) And it's why this blog wasn't written first thing this morning like I usually do. Well, that and the fact I had to take kids to swim lessons - one day down, nine to go. :D

I'm thinking I either need a clone or more hours in the day. A maid and a cook would also be nice, but I'm thinking I'll get the clone before I ever get the maid and cook.

I make lists to keep from going completely insane. I know I'm not the only one juggling twenty million things at once. So, tell me your secret for keeping it all straight and getting it all done. On time.

Question of the Week

There are many things I love about reading. I love being introduced to intriguing, complicated characters. I love going to new settings and new cultures. I love being taken on an adventure that in real life would leave me huddle on the ground. Not to mention, I love reading about people falling in love.

As I look at my bookshelves, I see books that I haven't read in years, but I can still tell you about the characters. I may not be able to quote you lines from the book, but I can tell you what its about without having to reread the back.

We've talked about favorite authors, favorite genres, favorite eras, but we haven't talked about favorite characters. Is there a character from a book, that even years and years later you still think about? A character that parts of you wish you could be?

Manic Monday

Ah, yet another Monday. I did an interview over the weekend with a Houston radio station. As soon as its released as a podcast on their site, I'll let you know. It was a great interview, and I enjoyed it immensely.

I've been working on the 5th and final book in the Druid's Glen series, Highland Fires. This is Frang's story and its proving to be just as adventurous as the others with a heroine who can hold her own against such a powerful Druid High Priest. :)

I'm on schedule to turn it in at the beginning of July. After that, I'll write the 3rd and possibly the 4th and final novellas in my Royal Chronicles series.

In between all of this, I'll be headed to Dallas for the RWA conference as well as taking a much needed holiday with the family.

Morning, everyone. The final day of the interview. Its been so much fun, and the reaction to Lugus has been overwhelming. My deepest thanks. If you sent in your questions via email and I don't post them here on the blog, I will answer them in an email.

Now, onto the last of the interview, then the WINNER!

DG: Morning. The last day.

Lugus: ::sits:: Good Morn. I have to say, your company has been a delight.

DG: ::beams:: Thank you. I know you wish to return to your isle, so I'll make this quick. First question. Rita wants to know how you feel about mixed species relationships? What if your true mate wasn't a Fae, would you forsake destiny and why?

Lugus: Interesting question. Though it is frowned upon, I do know that some Fae have fallen in love with humans, and their union produced offspring. Dartayous is one of those. His father is Fae, his mother human. It happens, and I don't see anything wrong with it. Love doesn't care about race, color or society. I don't think anyone should forsake love since its not liable to come twice in a lifetime.

DG: ::nods with a smile:: Once again you surprise me. I would have thought you'd feel differently.

Lugus: ::raises one flaxen brow:: I love surprising people.

DG: Tonya would like to know if you would ever try to return to the Realm of the Fae?

Lugus: ::shakes his head:: Once banished, always banished. I would not be welcomed, and most likely thrown back into the Realm of Shadows. Nothing could make me try to return to the Realm of the Fae. Nothing.

DG: Have you spoken to your brother since he made you mortal?

Lugus: Nay, nor will I. He made his decision clear by not allowing me to die. This is a punishment. Not that I'm complaining. I deserve so much more than this.

DG: I think you've punished yourself more than anyone else could. Maybe its time you let go of the past and lived. Really lived.

Lugus: ::stands and bows regally:: You have been a charming host. I wish great things for you, Donna.

DG: ::smiles:: Remember, love finds a way.

Lugus: Not with me. ::winks before turning on his heel and leaving::

Lugus: And a good morn to you as well.

DG: ::chuckles:: Sorry. We got some really good questions yesterday, and I know I told you the interview would end today, but could you come for one more day?

Lugus: For you? Anything.

DG: ::beams:: Thank you. Now, let's get started. Nancy would like to know who are the poeple that you trust?

Lugus: There is really only one man I trust. Jonathon is his name. He's an expert hunter and supplies me with the leather I need to make the scabbards. He's a good man.

DG: I'm glad there is someone you can trust. Next question from Danielle who wants to know if you had a woman on your realm before you were sent to the Realm of Shadows?

Lugus: ::barks with laughter:: I was heir to the throne. Women were everywhere, hoping and praying that I might choose them. I was already betrothed though, to the very woman my brother married once I was taken.

DG: Its no wonder you wanted revenge, Lugus. No one should have to suffer as you have.

Lugus: Long ago, my father told me that revenge was the way to death. I wish I had listened to him.

DG: Um...next question is from Rita. She would like to know if you should be given a miracle, what is the first thing you would do or change?

Lugus: I would not release the Death Dragons. Seeing them destroy my realm as well as other dragons nearly killed me. It is a sight I would gladly erase from my memories.

DG: Yes, that wasn't a good day. He's a question from January, your biggest fan. She would like to know if you'd change the past, or let it lie?

Lugus: ::sighs:: At one time I held more power than anyone. I could have taken over any realm I wanted to. With that power I could change what I've done, right the wrongs, so to speak. But now, now I cannot even hear my brethren. If I could change the past, I most certainly would. It would start with my father. I wouldn't argue with him that day he died. I would walk away as my mother often bade me because of my temper. For if that one small incident could change, the rest would as well.

DG: Everyone knows you didn't kill your father.

Lugus: Now they do.

DG: You talked about Jonathon, but is there a woman that has caught your eye?

Lugus: ::smiles seductively:: There are many beautiful women throughout the realms, I'll not deny that.

DG: Answer the question, please

Lugus: Ask what you really want to know.

DG: ::stares at Lugus before she sighs loudly:: Fine. Have you taken a woman to your bed in these last five years?

Lugus: Wouldn't you like to know.

June Interview - Day Three

Good morning, all. Y'all are the best in sending in questions. I'll get to as many as I can today. Here's the cover. What do you think?

DG: ::smiles as Lugus walks in and takes his chair:: You look tired.

Lugus: I was up late crafting a weapon.

DG: Oh, that leads right into a question that Crystal had. She wants to know if you client tells you what kind of weapon they want of if your creativity leads you while you work?

Lugus: A little of both actually. The client will tell me if they want a dagger or sword. Crafting weapons is an art, and like any other kind of art whether its designing a castle or painting, an artist wants to leave their mark on it. My mark is the designs I create on the blade. ::unsheathes his sword and holds in front of him::

DG: ::whistles low:: That's...beautiful. All those Celtic knots on the blade. That's just amazing and must take hours.

Lugus: Thank you. ::sheaths sword and leans back in chair:: It is my trade, something I enjoy. I leave my mark when I can.

DG: If you ever find the time, I'd love to have a sword made for me.

Lugus: ::lips twitch:: I confess, I've not made a sword for a woman before.

DG: Stop laughing, and there's a first time for everything. Now, on to more questions.

Lugus: By all means.

DG: ::rolls eyes:: This one is from Becky. She wants to know why you chose an isle to live on? And why Scotland?

Lugus: If you had ever seen the Realm of the Fae, you would understand why I chose Scotland. Scotland is as close to my realm as I'll ever get. Its wild, untamed beauty makes me feel at home. As for why the isle? I like being alone and the isle gives me that.

DG: Rita wants to know why you have given up?

Lugus: ::crosses arm over his chest:: I've killed. I aligned myself with a vile man of this realm to take over Earth and the Realm of the Fae. I released the Death Dragons that nearly destroyed my realm. I was willing to kill the man Moira loved just to ensure she stay with me. I gave my life to save her, in penance for my deeds. Yet, here I am. A mortal and banished from my realm. I live each day expecting to see a Fae that has come to kill me. In fact, I await that day with joy.

DG: Lugus, you were thrown into the Realm of Shadows on suspicion of killing your father. You survived that place after several millennia. And you escaped its clutches. Yes, you wanted revenge, yes you might have gone about it the wrong way, but you are free of that realm.

Lugus: Only to be here. ::holds up a hand when Donna would speak more:: I know what you try, and I thank you. I know of no other who would do such.

DG: I think, Lugus, that you are destined for something important.

Lugus: ::chuckles:: Do you possess Fae powers now that you can see into the future?

DG: You never know.

June Interview - Day Two

DG: Morning, Lugus.

Lugus: Good morn, Donna.

DG: I've had lots of questions sent in for you, but I don't think I'll get to all of them. Let's see....oh, ok. Here's one. Suzanne wants to know why you think you should be alone?

Lugus: Its not just that I'm a monster, its also that I'm not fit company for anyone. I live on my isle for a reason. I'm not bothered, and I like it that way.

DG: Here's a question from Laura, she wants to know what you do on your isle?

Lugus: I craft weapons as well as the sheaths that hold them. Each individual weapon is made specifically for a person. No two of my weapons are alike.

DG: I see from the sword at your back that you are highly talented. I bet you're in high demand.

Lugus: ::shrugs:: It pays for me to eat.

DG: ::laughs:: A bashful Lugus. I would never have thought.

Lugus: ::grins:: I'm full of surprises.

DG: Really? Tell me one.

Lugus: I miss seeing the dragons more than I miss my brethren.

DG: I've not seen the dragons myself, but I've had them described to me. I hear they are magnificent.

Lugus: They are creatures unlike any others. There is only one other culture that holds them in as much regard as the Fae do.

DG: I can tell from your tight lips that you don't like this other culture.

Lugus: The Fae and the Draconians fought violently with our dragons on your realm. Neither of us came away victors. Once the Draconian's left, the Fae soon followed, leaving Earth for mankind.

DG: I've heard rumors of the Draconians. What are they like?

Lugus: Very powerful. Almost as powerful as the Fae. And highly dangerous.

DG: I'll keep that in mind. Here's a question from Stephanie who wants to know if you've seen Moira since you've been at Scotland?

Lugus: ::sighs wearily:: Nay, nor do I intend to. Her mate is Dartayous, and though it pains me to admit it, she is better off with him. He is a good man, a man who will cherish her always.

DG: Do you think you could ever fill that way towards a woman?

Lugus: Nay. Not all are destined for love.

DG: One never knows what the future holds, Lugus.

DG: ::clears throat:: I suppose we should begin. I know how you hate to leave Scotland, so I really appreciate the time you've given me. I know this is a very private question, but I was hoping you could tell me a little about your life since you've become mortal.

Lugus: ::sighs loudly:: I'm not interesting. I don't know why everyone wants to know about me, but I'll answer your question. ::leans back in chair:: Honestly, I don't deserve to be alive. Not after what I've done. I gave my life to save Moira's, and Theron should have let me die.

DG: Your brother was giving you a second chance. It shows how much he loves you.

Lugus: ::snorts:: He doesn't love me. He's punishing me. And rightly so. I will do what I must to atone for my crimes. Until then, I will live on my island.

DG: Is being mortal that much different than being immortal?

Lugus: Aye. All my magic is gone. I don't hear the Fae anymore. I don't feel the pulse of magic within me. Pain and remorse are my only companions.

DG: That must be very painful to know your brethren are out there but you cannot communicate with them.

Lugus: ::glances away:: More than you know. If you had ever seen the Realm of the Fae you would understand. Though your realm holds certain beauty, it doesn't compare to the Fae realm.

DG: You've lived on your island off the coast of Scotland for five years now. You must have found some good friends.

Lugus: There are a handful of people that...I can purchase supplies from.

DG: No friends?

Lugus: Donna, I am a monster. Monsters don't have friends.

DG: ::sighs sadly:: Everyone needs friends, Lugus.

One of my favorite things to do is go to a bookstore. I love seeing all those books lined up waiting for a reader to delve into the pages.

As most readers do, I have my favorite authors. The ones that as soon as I know they have a new book, I run out and get it. Yet, there are times when I look for something new. When I look for a new author, the first thing I do is try to find a cover amid all those books that grabs my attention.

I know industry professionals would like to say covers don't make a difference, but I beg to differ. Covers make a big difference.

So, I find a cover that grabs me. I pull the book out and look at the title and author to see if its someone I know, then I turn it over to read the back. If the back sounds interesting, I open up the book and read the first page.

This is how I've found so many new authors. Yet, I know I'm missing out on some great books by skimming over covers that don't interest me. As a writer, that makes me cringe. As a reader, I know that it happens to many books/authors.

What I want to know is how do you find new authors in the bookstore?

Everyone has expectations. As readers, we expect our favorite authors to write a certain way in a certain time period (historical/contemporary/paranormal) and with a certain type character.

What happens when you pick up a book by your favorite author and she/he has done something so out of the ordinary than what they've previously released? Maybe they write a contemporary instead of a historical, a historical instead of a paranormal, or even an inspirational instead of a erotic romance. The book may not resonate with you as his/her previous books,so you have a choice. Do you buy another book of theirs and hope they got back to what they were doing best? Or do you move on to another author?

I can't believe its the last week of school. Next week my little darlings will be running around the house making it difficult to keep to my writing schedule, but I have to admit I'm ready for the summer. And they're definitely ready for the summer. :)

I should be getting the cover to Highland Fires very soon. I've been asked to be interviewed by a radio station in Houston, and the interview will coincide with the release of this book. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited!

I've finished up the novella I was working on, so I'll be starting a new book next week after I get the novella revised and polished.

As readers, each of us has our favorites. Our favorite authors, favorite sub genres, favorite settings. I want to know your favorite historical setting.

Do you prefer Ireland, or do men in kilts drive you wild? Medieval knights? The Renaissance man? Or maybe Regencies or Victorians. Or do you prefer more ancient settings such as Egypt or Rome?

I love just about all historicals, though I'm about drowned in Regencies. I'll still read the occasional Western, and I'll even read the more ancient books set in Rome or Egypt. But if all those books were side by side, I'd take a Highlander over any other. :D

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day. I was gifted with some amazing gifts from my kids that they had made in school. My youngest gave me a key chain and my daughter painted a glass. Of course, I'll treasure both always. :)

The family was insistent on doing everything for me that day, all the way down to watering my flowers. I have to admit it was rather nice. :D Something I could definitely get used to. lol.

I'm finishing up revisions for my novella in the Destiny Stone anthology. I hope to have some news on this very soon.

Must get back to writing instead of watching the hummingbirds feed. :D

Since I wasn't able to ask the weekly question yesterday, I thought I would do it today.

What sub genre of romance would you like to see more of? As a reader, would you like more historicals, contemporaries, humorous, fantasy, vampire, paranormal or other types?

Coming from a writer's POV, I'd like to know what people are looking to read. If there's a certain sub genre that you read more than others, let me know. :)

Personally, I love historicals. Any type. I'll take historical paranormals, historicals, historical fantasies...well, you get the point. I do read some contemporaries, but I find that it has to have some paranormal or fantasy element to it or it doesn't appeal to me.

Monday Again

Its the start of another week. So far, this Monday has started out ok. I just got a review from a reader in Belgium! How cool is that. The review was great and she's anxious to read more. Which is always good. :)

I'll be finishing up my novella for The Destiny Stone anthology I'm doing with two fabulous friends. Once that's done, I'll be turning my attention to Frang's story, the fifth and final book in The Druid's Glen series.

The emails I've received lately from readers speculate on what's going to happen in Lugus' story as well as what might happen in Frang's story.

I don't want to give anything away on Lugus' story which will be out next month, and since I haven't begun Frang's story, I can't give you any hints. :)

The one question I get the most is....Is Iona really dead?

First, I wanted to thank everyone who came out and played this week. I'm slowly getting people to realize that they can post to the blog and its not as dangerous as they think. :) Regardless, I appreciate you all being here and getting to know my characters.

There were a few more questions that came in yesterday and I think I answered all of them. Kimberly, you asked a few here on the blog, and I know the answers so we don't have to try and track down Elric. :D

You asked:
"What kind of woman is he searching for? And with what qualities or just anyone?" From what I've learned from both Elric and Lucian, they have no information on their mates. No qualities, not location, nothing. It is a very daunting task they undertake.

"How do you know you can trust the one that you think will be your mate?"
Unfortunately, we didn't get to know how the princes' know their mates. Once they've had sex, a hidden tattoo will show itself on both of them, running from shoulder to elbow. It was a gift from the Fae so that these men would know they had indeed found their mates, and it sometimes helps to convince the women. As to if they can trust them? They have no choice but to trust them when the fate of their kingdom and their people are in the balance.

I hope that helps answer some of your questions. :)

I always hate the last day of the interviews. I don't like when they end. :( The questions that have come in this week are numerous and I'll get to them all as soon as I can. So, lets get started...

DG: ::whistles as Elric comes in with a sword strapped to his back:: You look ready for...battle.

Elric: I like being prepared.

DG: That I can understand. Speaking of being prepared, I have a question from Lucy who watched one of my book trailers and wanted to know what a Tnarg is?

Elric: ::sneers and all but growls:: They are vicious, inhuman, merciless beasts whose sole purpose is to kill our mates before we can bring them into the safety of Drahcir.

DG: Where did they come from?

Elric: If I knew I'd hunt them out. ::runs hand down face:: They've been around as long as the curse has been in place.

DG: What happens if one of them kills a mate?

Elric: It would be the end of Drahcir.

DG: In other words, they are trying to prevent you from reaching Drahcir with your mate.

Elric: Aye. We've had our suspicions that the Tnargs are somehow related to the Fae that cursed us.

DG: Do you have any warning before it attacks?

Elric: ::shakes head sadly:: Unlike us, the Tnargs are magical so they can shift through time at will.

DG: Putting you at a distinct disadvantage.

Elric: Aye.

DG: ::sighs loudly:: Maria would like to know how often do you return to Drahcir and how long you're able to stay before resuming your search.

Elric: We cannot return without our mates. If we return without our mates, it dooms the kingdom, so we must remain on our hunt until we find and convince our mates to return with us.

DG: Patty would like to know if you could just bring your mate there unwillingly?

Elric: Never. If we did, it would destroy the kingdom as well. The Fae princess was very specific in how she cursed us. Our mates have to be willing to return with us, so we cannot use force.

DG: So you use anything else you're able to, like seduction.

Elric: We must do what we can to ensure that Drahcir remains.

DG: Janice would like to know when you have to return to Drahcir?

Elric I have until the Fifth Moon of the Harvest year.

DG: How does that translate in our time?

Elric: I have three months.

DG: I wish there was something that we could do to help.

Elric: Since Mandy is so interested, I think I'll stop by her place first.

DG: Mandy, look out, doll. Don't think you stand a chance against him. Sex just oozes off him.

Elric: ::winks:: Sure you won't change your mind?

Elric: Nothing to apologize for. Shall we start?

DG: Of course. ::looks through notes:: All right. First question, this one from Shawna who would like to know if you thought you'd come close to finding your mate?

Elric: There have been a few instances.

DG: What made you realize she wasn't the right one?

Elric: I think my father described it best when he told me and my brothers that we would feel it all the way to our very soul when we found our mates. There would be no doubt, no hesitation in claiming her.

DG: This ties in to Janie's question of do you feel something special when you find your mate?

Elric: Both my parents described it as if a part of them they hadn't known was missing had been found.

DG: Amazing. I can't imagine having to search for your mate in a short time period, but to finally find her, the experience must be...awesome.

Elric: I hope to discover it very soon.

DG: Me as well. ::looks down for next question:: Catslady asks how long you've been searching?

Elric: ::laughs, but sadness still darkens his eyes:: Catslady. I like that name. Its different and tells me she's an animal lover.

DG: Elric...

Elric: I must have a little fun, Donna. I don't know exactly how long I've been searching. Time runs different in your world than it does in my kingdom. Two days in my kingdom is like six months in your world. I began my search so earnestly as soon as I stepped out of my kingdom that I didn't pay attention to time at first. My calculations say I've been searching for almost two years.

DG: A long time to be sure.

Elric: More than you can possibly know. I cannot trust anyone so I stay by myself for fear that someone might follow me back to Drahcir and try to take it over. The kingdom is pure and the closest thing to perfect as it can get.

DG: So there's no evil?

Elric: I didn't say that. Good cannot survive without evil. Can you imagine a place where there is no wars, no one goes hungry and crime is almost non-existent? That's Drahcir. Evil does reside in my kingdom, we just don't let it overtake us.

DG: You say you've been alone while you've been searching. Have you not spoken with anyone?

Elric: Nay. I cannot chance it. I will tell my mate all, but no one else.

DG: You must be incredibly lonely.

Elric: My need to find my mate keeps the loneliness at bay.

May Interview - Day Two

Elric: ::winks as he sits:: Good morn. You're looking beautiful as ever.

DG: ::Laughs:: Save the seduction for your mate. Shall we get right to the questions?

Elric: Please. I really need to get back to searching. Drahcir hangs in the balance.

DG: ::nods and looks down at paper:: First question. This one is from Sasha. She would like to know if you feel any different since you've left your kingdom?

Elric: Other than missing my family terribly, nay, I'm still the same Elric. The inhabitants of Drahcir do not carry magic. 'Tis just the kingdom itself that pulses with it.

DG: Interesting. I would think that most people believe that you are much like the Fae and have magic inside you.

Elric: If that were the case, the search for our mates would be exceedingly easier. Nay, the Fae that cursed us was very specific in how she wanted to hurt the family.

DG: Hmmmm. Second question, this one from Amanda who would like to know if you are close with your brothers?

Elric: ::closes eyes and sighs softly:: Four brothers have never been closer than us. To grow up always having them near to talk to, to share joys and sorrows, and then leave on the greatest quest of your life and not have a way to communicate with them is torturous.

DG: I cannot begin to imagine your pain. That question leads into one from Mary who wants to know if you've run into your brothers while each of you search?

Elric: Nay. Though I cannot lie and say I haven't looked for them as well in the hopes that their search has led them to the same place as me. I've not been so fortunate. I pray that perhaps one of them has stumbled upon another.

DG: Here's a question from Stephanie who asks, In your search for your mate, are you afforded any clues as to who she maybe or where? Are different eras also included in your search to find your love?

Elric: We were told that we would know our mates instantly. How exactly, depends upon each of us. My father found my mother by her aura. How I will know my mate? I wish I knew. When I stepped out of my kingdom I had no idea of what year it was. We adapt quickly and are able to move across seas and continents at will, but always with the worry that we might not make it back to Drahcir in time. All we can do is pray that our mates are near.

The ability to shift through time involves magic, and since we hold none, is unavailable to us. Only the Fae can move through time and are not allowed to aid us in any way.

DG: The one that cursed your family didn't make it easy in the least. I'm beginning not to like her at all.

Elric: Careful, Donna. You don't wish to anger her and have her curse you and yours.

May Interview - Day One

Hi, all! With all the excitement of my daughter's birthday and RT, I forgot to mention that this week is Interview Week.

I'm so very pleased to have with us one of the four princes of Drahcir, a hidden magical kingdom deep in the Scottish Highlands. Elric is the second to the youngest of the princes and will be with us for the week talking about his family, the curse on his family and kingdom and anything you would like to know about him.

We met the first of the brother's in the Phoenix Rising II anthology. Now, let me introduce Elric to you whose story you'll find in my upcoming May release Prince of Seduction.

DG: Good morning, Elric. Thank you for joining us.

Elric: ::bows head:: My pleasure.

DG: If you would, tell us about the curse.

Elric: ::glances away:: It began with one of my ancestors. At the time, the Fae walked Earth as we do and visited Drahcir often. Though all Fae are known for their beauty, my ancestor caught sight of a princess and set out to have her as his own. He had no intentions of marrying her, he just wanted to see if he could make a Fae fall in love with a human since all most all humans fell in love with the Fae.

DG: This doesn't have a happy ending.

Elric: Nay. The princess did fall in love with my ancestor, and instead of marrying her as he should have, he spurned her. It was a grave mistake on his part because she cursed all Sinclairs as well as our kingdom.

DG: And the curse is?

Elric: Each prince or princess must leave the safety of Drachir to find our mates. If we don't return at the specified time, the kingdom and all inhabitants cease to exist.

DG: Rather harsh, don't you think?

Elric: ::nods solemnly:: I've been searching for a couple of years, yet I am no closer to finding my mate than I was the day I left Drahcir.

DG: I wish I could help you somehow.

Elric: No one is allowed to aid us. Already the Fae, ashamed of what one of their own did, have helped us. They have hidden our kingdom and given us some of their magic to help us live on.

DG: Let me guess. The Fae aiding you most is Aimery.

Elric: ::blinks, startled:: How do you know him?

DG: ::laughs:: Ah, he likes to torment me mercilessly. He is a good man though, and if he is on your side, you will prevail.

Elric: ::leans forward in his chair and smiles seductively:: You know I am famed for my seduction.

DG: I do know.

Elric: I don't suppose you might be my mate? You would be a princess destined to live our her life in a magical kingdom.

DG: ::shakes head while laughing:: Sorry, Elric. I'm already taken.

RT and Back Again

I love going to RT and meeting readers and booksellers, but I have to admit, I'm exhausted by the time I get home. At least this year I didn't have to fly since Houston was so close.

I got to meet so many wonderful readers. Pam from Texas, Rita from South Africa, Joy from Joyfully Reviewed, Pamela from Tennessee, and the list goes on and on. Thank you to everyone who I got to meet. I love putting faces to names. :) Also, I got to chat it up again with Michelle Pillow, Mandy Roth, Kally Jo Surbeck, Kimberly Kay Terry and Kaitlyn O'Connor. This year I also got to meet Jaycee Clark. If you haven't read her, go buy her books. She's not only a talented author but a really great person. Other authors that I finally got to meet where Marianne LaCroix, JJ Massa, Catherine Stang, Joy Nash, Sasha Lord, Vivi Anna, Lori Wilde, Jaide Fox and Raven Willow-Wood and so many others I know I probably forgot to list. :)

Everyone was incredibly sweet, which makes the event so much nicer. I did manage to take a few pictures, so I'll get them up in a day or two. Since I took RT off from writing (I know, bad Donna) I've got to get caught up. I'm almost done with the novella I'm working on for THE DESTINY STONE anthology I'm doing with two other authors. I'll talk more about it once I'm done with the novella.

For now, I'm just checking in, apologizing for not posting while I was at RT, and trying to get back into my schedule. Doesn't help that my kids don't have school today. :D

Looks like all that time I spent playing with the book trailers - or teasers as I call them - has paid off.

The Book Teaser for A Dark Guardian is a finalist in The Romance Galleria's Cameo Awards for The Best Fantasy Romance!

The big awards show will be in the 3-D virtual room at The Romance Galleria on May 5th. You have to download the software to be able to get into the 3-D area, but its well worth it and very easy to do.

I'm Donna and I'm A Cover Junkie

I've had to break out the chocolate to tempt the cover artists. I think it might have worked since I was told they were "trying" to get my cover out to me by the end of April.

Whoohoo!!

I'm a cover junkie. Kinda sounds like AA, huh? But its true. I love getting my covers, and I've been pretty fortunate so far that I haven't had one that made me cry. NCP is also great because they allow the authors to work closely with the artists to get the best feel of the book for the covers. If you can't tell by my covers, I have a thing about seeing the hero's face.

Call me weird, but I can't tell you how many times I've picked up a book and thought "wow, I really like the cover with this hot guy on the cover, but I wish his face would go away". Guys can have really great bodies, but their faces lack...well, they just lack the umph needed, IMO.

Of course, you have the guys that I'll drool over and others are like "what's the big deal? He's not all that". Which is the other reason I don't want the face on my covers.

The cover I'm supposed to get next is Highland Fires, the fourth book in the Druid's Glen series. It should closely match the first three.

Same with the third book in the Shield series, it should also match the other two in the series.

But the one I'm dying to see is the next novella in my Royal Chronicles series. I asked for something completely different than any of my other covers. I didn't have a say with the first novella since it went in the Phoenix Rising II anthology, so I thought long and hard on this cover.

NCP's cover artists are phenomenal, so I have no doubt the final product will be spectacular. I just hate that I have to wait so dang long. :(

Question Wednesday

Each person has their own idea of what is romantic and what isn't. For some women, just having a man hold the door for her is enough. While other women need the wine and roses and candlelit dinner.

I'm a romantic (never figured that, huh. lol) and my husband is as well. I got lucky in that department, and I can see that what my husband and I do is already shaping our children to be romantics. Its so cute when my four year old son tells his daddy that "we must get out the candles for dinner because Momma has had a bad day". How cute is that?!

It really all started with my eldest brother who used to tell me a true gentleman always held the door for a women and my date should always walk me to my door or he wasn't worth my time. My brother was so right. He was a true gentleman and though he never found his perfect wife, he did shape me and what I saw in men. For that I will always be grateful to him.

So, what is your definition of romantic? Do you need the full blown romantic night, or is just being with yours significant other enough?

He doesn't normally interact with mortals, so I was more than surprised to find he had taken over. I hope you all enjoyed his week. So sorry that his stay was cut short but the Shields needed him.

I hope everyone had a great Easter. My kids were on a sugar high all day and ran around like crazy people looking for eggs. In their search, they would run right by the eggs that were laid out in plain sight. My husband and I laughed until our sides hurt.

I have no doubt you could find some mortal women to tempt me. Fae are very sexual creatures, which is why when we visit Earth we must cloak ourselves for if a human sees a Fae in their true form, keeping them off us is rather difficult. :)

I know Donna has been trying to get Lugus in here to be interviewed for awhile now. I'll see what I can do to give him that little push he needs. Look for him next month, January.

Answer for Tabby
The Fae are easily distinguished by a mortal if we aren't cloaked to them. Its our eyes. We have very unusual swirling blue eyes that all Fae have. All Fae are also blond and tall. There are Fae in your realm now that have been here for years. Some keep to themselves, others like the spotlight. Those that like the attention are the ones that everyone seems to want to throw themselves at. Those are the Fae that aren't completely cloaking themselves. They allow a little bit of our sexuality to show through.

As time has moved, mortals have forgotten what it was like to feel the magic in this realm. They've forgotten about the Fae. Now, we are seen as tiny winged creatures, which are in fact pixies. BTW, don't ever anger a pixie. The consequences are severe.

Few mortal believe in the Fae any more. If someone doesn't believe in magic or the Fae, they wouldn't see me if I was standing directly in front of them. You have to believe to see us.

Authors like Donna who are writing about our world are opening eyes once again. More and more mortals are seeing us, which is the need to cloak our true selves. However, the Fae will not walk beside man as they once did. Man is too hungry for power and will not mesh well with our magic.

My duties to King Theron and Queen Rufina have kept me extremely busy, not to mention aiding the Shields, the Druids and even the royal Sinclair family. I've not much time for someone else in my life. For millenia I've been alone and it suits me. Maybe one day I'll find my soul mate, but I'm in no hurry.

Robyn
Ah, Gabriel. He is a special man. I don't know many who could survive such vicious wounds as he did, and to have no memories of his past has tortured him like no man should be. I worry for him though. Yet, his gift of healing has saved the Shields countless times, and for that I will always be in his debt.

Tane, aye. Well, I suppose he's a decent sort. Not like any of the other Draconian's I've met since the war between us. Tane helped us when we could have been destroyed and for that I owe him.

As for time for myself? I do manage to take some time. I always spend in deep in the northwest mountains of my realm where the rare blue dragons are found. The land there is pulsing with magic and more beautiful than any place I have ever seen. Maybe one day I will build a home there, but for now I visit when I can.

I wondered if someone would ask about Lugus. ::sigh:: He, like Theron, was like a brother to me. We grew up together, and it nearly destroyed me to see him accused, then thrown into the Realm of Shadows for his father's killing. His powers were always greater than Theron's, but we never expected that he would find his way out of the Realm of Shadows.

I check on him regularly now that he has made his home in Scotland. Theron has asked that I not speak to Lugus, but my king never said I couldn't check on an old friend.

I don't have a favorite Shield. Though none of them have magic as I do, they have battled creatures that would have killed lesser men. They are warriors in the truest form. Each of them brings a different dynamic to their small group, which makes them nearly invincible. I cannot imagine how great they would be if they also held magic.

Answers for Taylor
I would like nothing better than to join the Shields in their fight, yet none of the Fae can. It is written in the rules for all the realms. As it is, we strain the boundaries by training the Shields as well as granting them weapons made in the Realm of the Fae, which does give them an advantage. When needed I move the Shields through time, clothe them and make sure they have everything then need to defeat the Great Evil.

If it wouldn't reap dire consequences for my realm, I and my army, would join the Shields to finish it all. I fear that not all the Shields will make it out alive.

Answers to Dani's Questions:

I actually appear in just about all of Donna's books. You first see me in the Druid's Glen series, and I play a very integral part of the Shields. I'm also in her Royal Chronicle series and I've told her I must be in her new series, The Dragon Kings. Its about the Fae's mortal enemies, the Draconians, so I have to be in those books to make sure everything stays in order.

I'm not a Shield, but my rank is Commander of the Fae armies. I rule all the armies and answer only to Theron and Rufina, the king and queen of the Fae.

:) As for my position of mortal women, there are many that I have found beautiful, and some that I have shared a night with on Beltane, but none have held my attention longer than that. My heart and soul belong to my realm and my people.

Hello, Cathy. I wondered if anyone would ask why Val is Donna's favorite. She has enjoyed all the Shields and as most would say, they are as handsome as sin. It was Val's lust for life, his awesome power as a general for Rome and his undying loyalty to the Shields that captivated her. Yet, what sealed it all was his pale green eyes and a smile he saved just for her that did it all.

Answers for Stephanie:

Thank you for your compliment of my page on MySpace. That picture was drawn by a mortal woman several years ago, your time. It isn't totally accurate, but gives you a good idea of what a Fae looks like in full battle armor. And yes, that is my armor. The horse's name is Parthalan. He's a magnificent beast.

To be ruler of the Fae you have to have awesome amounts of power. Though I hold great power to be Commander of the Fae, I could not think to even try to take King Theron's position. He is like a brother to me and has my complete loyalty.

Ah, good idea about the prize. I think I'll giveaway one of the Shield books. Cole's book, the 3rd in the series, is supposed to come out in June, so now would be a great time to get to know the Shields if you haven't already.

Good morning, everyone. My name is Aimery and I hope you don't mind, but I've...occupied...Donna with a new deadline so that I could come visit you for the week.

Yes, I know there was supposed to be an interview, but I thought you might want to interview me instead. Besides, I have many questions that I would like answered, and what better place to have them answered than here.

Thanks to Donna writing the Shields' books, they are now fighting amongst themselves over who is liked better. Although I told them you couldn't give an accurate telling since you haven't read all the books in the series, nor have all of them been interviewed. However, they were determined to have an answer by the end of this week.

So, who is your favorite Shield? We all know Donna has her favorite, which is Val, though she won't tell us why exactly. I have the answer if anyone wants to know.

Now, I'm prepared to answer a number of questions this week. I've noticed in the past that many readers prefer to write in the answers by email. Either way, send in those questions. ::rubbing hands together:: I'm ready to answer anything!

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am.

Bastards!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe.

Ok. So I normally don't care for Mondays, but this morning I woke up ready to face the week. I'm not questioning it, just accepting it, pencil in hand ready to cross off many items on my To-Do List. :)

Thanks to all who came out to the chats. The all day chat on Friday with Joyfully Reviewed as a hoot. And last night, the chat with Romance Junkies was great! I had a blast with both and look forward to talking with those readers again.

I'm on track to finish my novella for the Chained Melodies anthology this week. ::doing the snoopy dance::

I also got new doorhangers in. These are FABULOUS!!! Can't wait to show them off. :)

In the coming months I'll be contributing to two anthologies coming out with NCP. The first is an anthology titled CHAINED MELODIES. It will consist of such authors as:

Angelica Whiting
Adrienne Karma
Marie Hart
Catherine Stang
and
Annalee Blysse

Also, I'm teaming up with my very good friends Georgia Tribell and Mary O'Connor (website is being redesigned) for an anthology based on a pendant that my heroine will discover in Medieval Scotland and it will make its way to Victorian England and then to present day. I'm very excited about this anthology, and of course its always fun to do a project like this with friends.

The three author project with Charlotte Boyett-Compo and Liz Craven is coming along nicely. This book is in a fantasy world where the women are the ones in power. We've named the book Sisters of the Bloodstone. Look for the website/blog in the coming months.

Besides those anthologies/collaborations, I'm trying to get the last two Royal Chronicles novellas written.

And don't worry, Frang's story will be done this year. :)

Question Wednesday

I thought we'd try something different on Wednesday. Every Wednesday I'll pose a question to you, the readers.

I had someone ask me the other day "Why romance?" So, I'd like to know, why do you read romance?

I read it because I need that Happily Ever After, that good will overcome evil, that two people can have problems and work them out, that two people can indeed stand by each other when others have left them. There are so many reasons that I read romance, but the biggest reason is the LOVE. It does conquer all, after all. :)

DG: Lucian. I have a list of questions to ask you today.

Lucian: You promised me something yesterday.

DG: I did.

Lucian: Tell me now. Please. ::slides to edge of chair:: What is it? You know Drahcir hangs in the balance.

DG: ::sighs:: Your mate is in England. In 1264 England to be precise.

Lucian: ::jumps up and starts to run out of the room before he slides to a halt:: Thank you. You may have just saved Drahcir.

DG: Lucian! Wait! We haven't finished the interview. ::watches Lucian leave:: Well, I guess that concludes this interview. Damn. I knew I should have saved that clue until after I asked him some more questions.

March Interview - Day Three

Goodness. I nearly drowned in the emails yesterday. The questions pouring in for Lucian are the most I've ever received. Thank you so very much! So, without further ado (I just love saying that!) lets get this party started...

DG: Good morning, Lu... ::trails off as Lucian sits down - bare chested::

Lucian: ::a wicked, knowing gleam in his eyes:: And a good morn to you as well, Donna. You said something about questions?

DG: Questions? Oh, questions! ::drops papers and bends to pick them up while trying to keep her eyes off Lucian's muscular chest:: Right. Questions. ::clears throat:: Ah, Cathy would like to know what the tattoo will look like.

Lucian: ::chuckles:: I knew that would be one of the questions, so I came prepared. ::leans forward and turns so that his left shoulder faces outward:: The design is very intricate and will start at the top of my shoulder.

DG: And the color?

Lucian: Black, of course.

DG: ::rolls eyes:: of course.

Lucian: The design is a series of knots much like the Celts had, but a little different since its Fae knot work. There is also what you would call scroll work, for lack of a better word.

DG: Ah. Almost tribal then.

Lucian: Tribal?

DG: Never mind. Its from our world. Go on, please.

Lucian: The scroll work and knot work are intertwined and come together to make what is known as the symbol of Drahcir.

DG: It sounds beautiful, but hard to picture without seeing something.

Lucian: This I realize, and though I would much love to show you the symbol, that I cannot do. If you ever do see the symbol of Drahcir, its because you are destined to be at Drahcir.

DG: Fair enough. So, you don't wear your symbol as the Fae do?

Lucian: Not on our clothing, nay. In Drahcir, our symbol is everywhere and on everything from our homes to the scabbards of our weapons to the saddles on our horses. It isn't taken out of Drahcir unless absolutely unnecessary.

DG: ::takes a deep breath:: Next question. This one is from Abigail who wants to know what you will do if you do not find your mate in time or cannot convince her to return with you?

Lucian: Well, that depends on whether I've already claimed her body or not. You see, not only are we marked after we've made love, but our souls are then bonded. If she refuses to be with me, she will live her life alone, forever seeking the peace that she could have had with me.

DG: I gather this is something the Fae princess added in to the curse?

Lucian: Oh, aye. She was hurt deeply and wanted others to feel her hurt. If she refuses to return with me, I will stay with her. I have no other choice but to be with her. If I do not find my mate, then I will return to Drahcir and suffer the fate of my people.

DG: You have a very tough road ahead of you, Lucian. How long have you searched?

Lucian: Entirely too long. ::runs hand down his face:: I fear I will fail my family and Drahcir.

DG: I think your day just got brighter.

Lucian: ::eyes snap to my face:: What?

DG: Aimery paid me a visit last night. I've got a clue for you.

I received a ton of emails yesterday listing questions from readers. I'll get to as many as I can over the week. :)

DG: ::shifting through paper:: I've got so many questions from readers here that I don't know where to start.

Lucian: A 'Good morn, Lucian' would be great.

DG: ::glances up to see Lucian grinning at her:: Oh, you rouge! ::laughs:: yes, Lucian. Good morn.

Lucian: And a good morn to you as well, my lady. ::settles back in chair and folds hands together at his waist:: Now, what question shall we start with?

DG: This is from Cynthia. She would like to know what happens if you bring the wrong woman back to Drahcir?

Lucian: ::takes a deep breath as smile slips from his face:: The same thing if I don't bring my mate back. Drahcir will cease to exist. The Fae princess that cursed my family wanted us to know what it felt like to never truly find love. She never expected us to succeed.

DG: I have to admit, Lucian, that it is rather odd that you have succeeded. Your mates are never in Drahcir. You have to leave to seek them out in a world that is much bigger each time one of your family visits it.

Lucian: Don't forget that time travels differently in Drahcir as well. What is one month in my kingdom could well be a year in your world.

DG: You don't know how fast or slow it travels?

Lucian: Nay.

DG: ::shakes head:: You have so much going against you. The odds in favor of you discovering your mate are next to none, Lucian. This next question from Debbie ties in to this discussion. She wants to know how you know where to look for your mate?

Lucian: We have some help from the Fae. Our mates aren't always in the time period we arrive in when we leave Drahcir. Sometimes they're farther in the past or much farther in the future. The Fae has aided us in shifting through time, but once we're there, its up to us to convince our mates we aren't daft.

DG: I bet I know who the Fae is that is aiding you.

Lucian: ::brow furrows as he tilts his head to the side:: And who might you think it is?

DG: None other than Aimery. ::looks at next question:: All right. The next question is from Lisa. She would like to know how you know you've found your mate?

Lucian: Once we've shared our bodies, there is a mark, a...what do you call it? Oh, a tattoo that will show from our shoulder to our elbow.

DG: It will show on both of you?

Lucian: Aye. Its a very distinct design of Drahcir, one that's unmistakable.

DG: So, it just appears?

Lucian: Nay. Its always there, its just that once we make love, it makes it show itself, to help our mates realize just who they are.

DG: Interesting. Very interesting.

March Interview - Day One

Good morning, all! Ready for another week of interviews? January, et al, don't kill me, but we're not having Lugus this week. That man...well, let's just say he's harder to pin down than a gnat. I'll get him here soon though. I promise.

This week, I'm excited to bring in Lucian Sinclair. He's one of four princes who must leave his hidden, magical kingdom to seek his mate and return her to Drahcir.

So, without further ado...Lucian!

DG: Good morn, Lucian. Thank you so much for agreeing to this interview.

Lucian: Good morn, Donna. You're welcome. Please understand that I cannot stay long.

DG: Of course. Let's get started then. Tell us about Drahcir.

Lucian: ::smiles fondly:: Ah, a more beautiful place I've never seen. We're hidden in the Ben Nevis Mountains deep in the Scottish Highlands. The pass is treacherous, so it keeps people from discovering our kingdom.

DG: And how is it that your kingdom is hidden and magical?

Lucian: A relative of course. ::sighs deeply:: He set out to woo a Fae princess and make her fall in love with him. He succeeded and when she discovered he didn't return her feelings, she cursed our kingdom.

DG: If you're cursed, how is it that you think Drahcir is so wonderful?

Lucian: It hasn't been corrupted as the rest of the world. Though one Fae cursed us, the rest have looked over us. Drahcir is in the middle of frozen mountains, but with the help of Fae magic, our kingdom stays warm all year round.

DG: So, part of the curse is that your hidden. What's the other part?

Lucian: The worst part. Every generation the princes and princesses of Drahcir must leave to seek out their mates. Yet it isn't just finding out mates, it's convincing them to return to another time and place willingly.

DG: And if you don't convince them?

Lucian: Drachir ceases to exist.

DG: A heavy burden you carry.

Lucian: Aye. I worry that my three brothers have already returned and simply await me. ::smiles charmingly, his green eyes flashing:: Want to return as my mate?

DG: ::laughs:: Ah. No. Sorry, I'm already taken.

Lucian: Know anyone that wants to be a princess of a magical, hidden kingdom?

DG: Oh, I'm sure we can find you someone. ::smiles::

Is it just me or does time always fly by when you've got a million things to do and only an hour to do them in? Where did yesterday go? I look at my To-Do list (yes, I make lists - no laughing) and I see all the things I got to scratch off.

Yet, for everything I scratched off, I added another two. Now, I'm ok with that for the To-Do list for the house, but not my To-Do list. I mean, come on, let me feel as if I've accomplished something.

I didn't even take a break for lunch. I was at the computer all day - literally. I stopped to let the dog out, teach pilates in the morning, drop kids at school, pick kids up, fix dinner, and then put kids to bed.

Maybe today I'll get more stuff marked off while not adding anything. ::shrug:: Its something to shoot for atleast. :)
